Black & Gold Autonomous Racing

Utilizing the engineering, leadership, and fundraising capabilities of Purdue University with the engineering assistance of West Point and our public and private partners, our team, Black & Gold Autonomous Racing, will program a modified, autonomous Dallara IL-15 Indy Lights race car to outrace and outmaneuver competitors from around the world in a head-to-head, high speed, fully-autonomous race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

In October of 2021, our team will compete for the $1 million prize at the Racing Capital of the World. But we can't do it without YOU.

WHAT IS THE INDY AUTONOMOUS CHALLENGE

This is the world's first head-to-head, high speed autonomous race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The competition challenges students and faculty from public, private, and academic institutions around the world. Teams are asked to participate in a variety of events leading up to the big race in October, including themed hackathons, research papers, simulation races, and Purdue University's autonomous evGrand Prix.

The race is set for October 21-23, 2021.

WHO ARE WE?

Black & Gold Autonomous Racing brings together two world-class engineering universities and over 30 undergraduate engineers. Members from three Purdue student organizations are participating: Autonomous Motorsports Purdue (AMP)Electric Vehicle Club (EVC), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). Our team has competed well so far, achieving second place in the fastest lap challenge and sixth overall in the latest hackathon event.

WHY DO WE NEED YOUR HELP?

We are currently seeking more expertise and experience. Although we have many dedicated and talented undergraduate students working with us, we are seeking full-time graduate students, faculty members, postdoctoral researchers, and partners in industry to join Black & Gold Autonomous Racing. In order to recruit these individuals and ask them to concentrate on our team's entry in the challenge, we need to offer available funding. Without the generosity of donors like you, our team won't have the resources and mentorship it needs to cross the finish line.

Will you help us bring home the gold?
