Habitat for Humanity is an international nonprofit organization, who partners with families in need of decent, affordable housing. We are the Purdue Student Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. As a student chapter, we partner with local affiliates to help spread awareness, fundraise, and volunteer. Each year, we partner with Lafayette Habitat for Humanity to fund a house for $55,000. Students involved in the organization from Purdue volunteer every Saturday, so that the house is ready for our partner family by the end of the school year!
Each partner family works alongside of us to provide “sweat equity” on their home. Each adult of the family completes 250 hours of volunteer work with Habitat. They must also be able to pay off a mortgage. As an organization we provide a “Hand up, not a hand out”. This year, we are working alongside Herlonda "Patty" Rodriguez to give a hand up in building her and her family a home.
We are short of our $55,000 goal this year and need your help. In reaching our $10,000 goal, we will be able to fund a house and give more students the chance to volunteer.
