A NOTE FROM THE TEAM:

This year's Rube Goldberg Machine Contest task is to apply a band-aid!

We are currently in the building stage and have completed the tri-level base of the machine (as pictured) (photo attached). We have begun building steps with a tentative 90's theme. The machine will include many elements involving gravity, electricity, fluids, and a whole lot of hot glue.

We are looking to improve on last year’s great year, where we took first in the regional competition and placed at nationals.

Thank you for supporting us as we work to continue this great tradition!

ABOUT AMET:

AMET (Association of Mechanical and Electrical Technologists) is a technical-based student organization in the Purdue Polytechnic Institute that provides a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every individual member has the opportunity to develop electrical, technical, and leadership skills. All majors are encouraged to join. With more than 60 members, AMET students lead the Rube Goldberg, Robotics, and Aerospace student teams from the Purdue Polytechnic Institute.

ABOUT THE RUBE GOLDBERG MACHINE CONTEST

A Rube Goldberg Machine (RGM) is a crazy contraption which accomplishes a simple task in the most complicated – and funniest - way possible! Based on the “Invention” cartoons of the famous Pulitzer Prize-winning American cartoonist, Rube Goldberg, actual machines are at the heart of the Rube Goldberg Machine Contest. They use everyday items (mostly junk!), they tell a story and, most important of all – they make you LAUGH.

A Rube Goldberg Machine Contest (RGMC) is an event where students of all ages compete with the machines they have imagined, designed and created in a fun and competitive forum. The competitions encourage teamwork and out-of-the-box problem solving, in a fresh learning environment and level playing field. Online and live contest for overly-complex Rube Goldberg Machines are hosted for three ages divisions (middle school, high school, and college) at more than 30 locations across the country each year with a standardized task and set of rules.
