Here at Purdue University, the goal of the Empower Student-Athlete Development team is to empower our student-athletes through education, entrusting them with the resources needed to succeed while providing entrepreneurship and personal growth opportunities. We believe every Boilermaker student-athlete should be provided opportunities to excel, both inside and outside of their respective sports.
As a result of the John Purdue Club’s Forging Ahead fundraising campaign*, Purdue Athletics is launching an international service-based cultural immersion program called Boilermakers Beyond Borders in the summer of 2024. The first-of-its-kind travel program offers student-athletes a chance to participate in an international service trip with a non-profit organization called Courts for Kids.
Today, we are asking you to aid in the fundraising process for this once-in-a-lifetime experience!
WHY DO WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT?
We need support to help provide Purdue student-athletes an opportunity to participate in the international service trip, where they would travel abroad to an underserved area in Costa Rica and work with the local community to build a multi-surface sports court for their youth and community members to enjoy. The trip will provide a meaningful service-based and authentic cultural immersion experience for all participants, impacting student-athletes by expanding their worldview, fostering cross-cultural understanding and inspiring servant leadership.
We believe this opportunity should be available to all qualified student-athletes that are interested, regardless of their financial situation.
*Forging Ahead launched in September 2023 with an aim to provide coaches with a data-driven approach to recruit, retain, and develop championship teams and further enhance the Purdue student-athlete experience. Those who give to the Forging Ahead campaign will be rewarded with double John Purdue Club priority points to reflect the significant impact they are making toward a better Purdue.
