Story:
A man in his late 20s, Calvin, lives a mediocre life and works a job he hates. Constantly living between daydreams and reality, his only real passion is the comic book stories he writes on the side. After getting fired from his job, being confronted by his ex-wife, and dealing with the daily struggles of life, Calvin must face the tragic event that is the center of all his problems. Calvin must decide to allow this tragedy to fully break him, or to fight back for his own personal redemption. Told through both superhero daydreams and his real-life obstacles, SLAYTE paints a story about the power of family, courage, and redeeming oneself after a tragedy.

Why is this film important?
Our professor approached us about creating a film and naturally, we accepted, as a film project of this scale hasn’t been done on our campus before. We came together to make this class with a group of talented, multi-disciplinary students from a wide variety of majors on campus. Not only would you be helping us to create this film, you would also be helping pave the way for a new track for future students. This track is partnering the majors of Communications and Visual Effects. This gives us access to the high budget equipment that the Visual Effects Department has at their disposal. Allowing us to do some amazing things in post like super speed, flight, and a full CG Character! If we can successfully complete our film then this partnership and path will continue to grow year after year.
Where is the money going?
We’re looking for $12,000 to help create this film. This goes to paying the equipment, various production elements, hiring the professional cast from Indy, and a portion going to the awesome awards we have planned for all of you! Here is a breakdown of where your efforts and generosity will go -

Why donate?
We need your help to make one of the biggest film productions to come from Purdue! Equipment, Locations, Art Design, The Cast, Costumes, and every other aspect of the film process can quickly build up the cost. On top of that we are trying to obtain very high budget equipment to make our visual effects as professional as possible along with hiring a professional cast from Indy. Everything that is donated is put directly into our film. If we can surpass our goal, we’ll be able to enter more festivals and get a head start on our next film endeavor!
