Purdue Electric Racing is a team of over 100 students representing every college at Purdue University. Our team is organized into 8 departments: Aerodynamics, Battery, Business Operations, Chassis, Controls, Drivetrain, Electronics, and Vehicle Dynamics. Every year, we design, fabricate, and test a fully electric, formula style race car to compete against teams around the world in the Formula SAE Electric competition. Starting from the ground up, we construct a vehicle that is judged on design, cost, business case, and performance.

Our mission is to offer students hands-on engineering and management experience that inspires them to apply classroom concepts to solve complex technical and collaborative problems. Will you support our journey?

WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT

Founded in 2013 by Rene Zarikian, Purdue Electric Racing emerged from our sister team, Purdue Formula SAE, with a vision to embrace the future of automotive engineering. Since fielding a vehicle without bodywork at our first competition, PER has continuously learned, adapted, and evolved.

In 2020, PER took a giant leap to a hub motor system that took years of development to perfect. During this educational period, we refined our aerodynamics package, battery technology, and chassis design to push the team to the next level.

In 2024, PER passed tech inspection for the first time in five years and competed in every event for the second time ever. Completing 100+ miles of testing and overcoming challenging setbacks, PER placed among the most competitive teams in the nation

Over the next 24 months, PER aims to develop an innovative 4WD system. We are thrilled to tackle this challenge and write the next chapter in our history.
