LIGHT THE WAY FOR SAFETY AND LEARNING

The Jules Janick Horticulture Garden is a living classroom for students in horticulture and landscape architecture. Currently, when the sun sets, the garden goes dark, except for the only existing light that covers a small service drive. This leaves most pathways unlit and unsafe.

Purdue’s Department of Horticulture is making a change with a low-voltage lighting system to make the garden safer, more beautiful, and a true showcase of professional landscape lighting.

The installation will be completed by students in HORT 317: Landscape Contracting and Management, giving these Boilermakers hands-on experience they can carry into their careers.

WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS

We need your help to cover the cost of materials including light fixtures, transformers, wiring and connectors.

Right now, these costs are being covered by the Janick Horticulture Garden Construction Fund. Unfortunately, this means less funding for future enhancements like a water feature or garden expansion.

Your donation will:

  • Improve safety for evening visitors
  • Enhance the garden’s beauty after dark
  • Give students valuable real-world skills
  • Protect funding for future garden projects

Every gift helps us light the garden and brighten the future of our students.

Thank you and Boiler Up!
